2011 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award.

Dear ENERGY STAR Program Sponsor,

Congratulations! In recognition of your commitment to providing our nation’s homebuyers with ENERGY STAR qualified homes, your company has earned a 2011 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award. This award recognizes your organization’s work in promoting energy efficient construction and helping to protect the environment through its partnership with ENERGY STAR.

Despite ongoing concerns in the housing market, both home builders and home buyers are continuing to invest in energy efficient homes. More than 126,000 new homes were constructed to meet ENERGY STAR guidelines in 2010, bringing the total number of ENERGY STAR qualified homes to nearly 1.2 million to date. In 2010, more than 20 percent of all single-family homes built nationally earned EPA’s ENERGY STAR label.

Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR and partners like you, Americans saved about $18 billion on their utility bills and avoided greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 33 million vehicles. We appreciate the contribution that your organization has made to help ENERGY STAR achieve this great level of success and for your continued partnership.

Attached you will find a certificate recognizing you for your achievements in energy efficient new home construction. Please accept this as a token of our appreciation for your hard work and dedication to the ENERGY STAR Program. We will also be sending you a separate email that will include marketing ideas for advertising your receipt of a Leadership in Housing Award. Please note that other partnership categories will be receiving their certificates later this week.

In previous years, EPA has provided plaques to awardees who have requested them specifically. As we work to make homes more efficient in this down market, we also strive to be more efficient with taxpayer dollars, and have transitioned to providing certificates to all partners who have earned a Leadership in Housing award.

EPA is pleased to offer this certificate, in addition to the opportunity for partners to order their own plaques if they so choose. Sponsoring organizations will also have the opportunity to order plaques on their local partners’ behalves. If you wish to purchase one or more plaques on behalf of your organization, and/or for your local partners, please reply to this email by Monday, May 20, 2011. The organization name to appear on your plaque will be the same as that which is listed on your certificate, unless otherwise specified.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce a new addition coming to the ENERGY STAR website. A new Leadership in Housing Awardee page will list all of the recipients of this year’s award. We will provide you with the URL address to this page once it is available. Please feel free to share this page with colleagues and customers to advertise your achievements.
